Hi all,

I have 2 Scenarios.

1 is

We have NAS and we are going to have a LUNS from that NAS to Server.

So assume that we have Drive E (LUNS) in my Server. In that LUNS we have Files and Folders.

Do we need to deploy an agent for windows in that Server to Backup all of the data inside that Drive E (LUNS)?

2 is

It is Possible to Backup the whole NAS? (No LUNX involve as in whole NAS) What are the main requirements?

Thank you!

yes, install agent on the server where the LUN is mounted and backup the data from there else use ndmp feature in Backup Exec to backup the NAS. Refer Software compatibility list for the BE version and also https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100017787.html

If my understanding is correct, the NAS lun is mounted/mapped on the Windows server as a Network Drive, right?
In Windows explorer, drive letter E will have a network icon on the left with the network path in brackets (\\filer\path).
Is this correct?
If so, you cannot backup drive letter E. You can follow this TN to 'Configure share level backup' :

@Gurvinder has answered question no. 2 - If your NAS make/model is supported for NDMP backup (and you have correct license), you can backup entire NAS.
Instructions for NDMP config in BE Admin Guide.

Hi ma'am @Marianne, I think you are talking about Network Map Drive. What I mean is the NAS Luns like a local drive.

Thank you for the input about question number 2 and for the ink. This is a big help. :)

Best regards!

Hi Sir @Gurvinder, thank you, now it's clear :)
