Backing up with Backup Exec 2012 between sites.

A client of mine has a couple of remote offices and a corporate office, all locations have there own domain, server(s), and network. There is no VPN tunnel between the sites or anything like that. What I would like to know is it possible to use backup exec on the remote offices to backup to the corporate's backup exec 2012 server without a VPN site to site in place?

Thanks, ja

Hi,

You can consider using optimized deduplication to do this. Sending full backups across a VPN would place your WAN under quite a bit of strain.

Check below:

Youc an also refer to the BE 2012 Admin Guide for more information.

Thanks!

I was hoping to only have to do a full backup once and only incremental from then on out.

I will take a look at the links and see what I can make out.

Agent backups are notoriously fragile over a WAN link.    Also in the event you needed to do a FULL restore, you would need the original FULL and ALL incrementals, in order, to do your restore

Optomized DeDup is definitely the way to go
