BackuExec 15 Server Edition with Oracle database 11g

Hi

I purchased the following product for a customer to be used with an internal Tandberg LTO drive on his Lenovo RD650 server:

Veritas Backup Exec 15 (11482-M0008) Server Edition 

This server will run the hotel's PMS,  Opera 5.0.03, which uses Oracle Database 11g

Oracle have told us that they have had issues in the past with Oracle Database 11g and BackupExec sitting on the same server box

They told us that we should have purchased the BackuExec Oracle Agent instead for this server, and installed BE15 and LTO drive on a different server.

Any suggestions, experiences ?

Even if you install BE and Oracle on the same server still you will require Agent for Oracle (aka Agent for App and DB) to backup Oracle DB.

This can only be along the lines of performance. I've run BE on a server running Exchange, SQL, file and print and DC...all-in-one, and as long as the hardware has enough performance, you should be fine.

Ask Oracle what they mean about them having issues with BE and Oracle running on the same server.
