Backup 2012 on Server 2008

Hi All,

I am facing a critical issue with my Backup Exec. My Backup exec showing VSS error. I found that VSS automaticaly stopped whenever Backup exec trying to take backup.. We have set on all VSS services on manual. We have checked the writer status and found that all writers have stable error except

Microsoft exchange writer showing 9 Failede and status Time out.

I have tried a lot to find the salution but totally failed. Lots of online search suggest me to reboot the server But please gv some other solution.

Please help me out guys..................

The solution to this issue is get the state of the VSS writers to stable as if the VSS writers are not stable the backup would never run. So you would need to install some VSS patch and reboot of the server would be must ..

There are some VSS roll-up patches for Win2k3, that Microsoft has, that needs to be installed.  Other than that, it sounds like you haven't restarted the Exchange server yet.  Have you?

...best bet here would be to inform the OP what patch to install...not "some patch"...

If you don't come right with the reboot, check the Symantec TN below and reregister the VSS *.dlls.

Here is the VSS rollup patch http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940349,  You need to reboot your server after installing the patch
