Backup Completes with Exceptions (Sharepoint)

Peter_Sheridan

Hello,

I get a lot of these exceptions in my backup report even though I have unticked those .dbf and .mdf files from the selection list. The only way I have found to resolve this is to untick the entire Folder instead of the individual files.

Is this correct? Should the exceptions go away when the individual files are unticked?

Hello,

Sorry about the delayed response on this.

I tried what was discussed in the tech note but that didn't work.

If i was to exclude the whole folder, that works. but what If non database files get added to that folder for whatever reason. Then there is the risk of them not being backed up.

Why is it that simply deselecting the databases manually not work?

Cheers

I get exactly the same problem Peter. When this compnay set up it's Sharepoint site the database files were all lumped in with the other SQL files from the Ops database. I can't exclude the whole directory. I have excluded all the files but the backup still errors.

Good to know someone else is having the same problem :)

I raised a tech support case with Symantec on this and the end result was

"I talked to our developers and they are aware of this issue. It will be resolved in a future revision of the software. As of right now though, if the previous solution did not work I would just disregard the exceptions or unselect the entire Data folder. If I was in your shoes I would just disregard the exceptions and await the hotfix.

Please subscribe to the following technote for updates on this issue and news on future hotfixes:

I can assure you that if you are backing up your sharepoint farm, your sharepoint data is backed up and secured. Sorry for any inconvenience."

So hopefully it will be fixed soon :)

Not likely.  I opened my case 12/27/2012.. still stuck in engineering after the support folks monkeyed around with one of my clients' configs.  This problem is across the board.

I just checked this and it now says that Symantec are not planning to fix it...
