Backup Exec 10.0 w SP1
So recently our Tape Drive ran out of room. As a replacement we decided to go with pocket size hard drives. The setup is as follows:
Belkin Network USB HUB plugged into the network and then the hard drives plug into it. The software installed on the server attaches the drive locally. It shows up as a local disk both in My Computer and in disk management.
I created the Backup-To-Disk folder to backup to it. It creates the .cfg files on the drive just fine. When I go to run the job, it creates the first media file on the drive just fine. But it doesn't start transferring data. The status goes to queued and will not transfer. I've let it sit for a few hours and still nothing.
I can copy files to the drive just fine, it creates all the necessary files on the drive, but won't ever kick off the job. I've deleted and recreated the Backup-to-Disk Device and all the jobs and still no luck. I've restarted all the services and still the same thing.
If I go to the Backup-To-Disk folder it shows media on the device. It is set to scratch media.
Anyone ever have any problems with this? For all intents and purposes, the USB hub makes the drive show up locally on the server, so I wouldn't think that would be a problem. As far as the OS is concerned, it's a local drive.
I've setup hard drive backups many times in the past and never had a problem. I would really love it I could get this to work since it would replace the need for a tape drive altogether and is more flexible as well.
Thanks,
Matt
