Backup Exec 10.0 sp3 crashes on GUI startup

Backup Exec 10.0 sp3 hangs on GUI startup with blanc OK error button.

Pressing OK leaves GUI on but use of any menu crashes it. Event viewer Application entry depends on menu used:

"help" -> "About ..."
Faulting application BkupExec.exe, version 10.0.5520.11, faulting module WinGUILib.dll, version 10.0.5520.0, fault address 0x0003fe49.

I suspect this happened on upgrade to Win Serv 2003 SP1 R2. Backup was running so this was not discovered until we tried to start GUI

Reinstall did not helped.

Any help appreciated.

Hi!

- For this issue, try renaming the catalog folder:

- Stop all Backup Exec Services
- Rename th catalog folder to catalogs.old under path:
C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\Catalog
- Start all Backup Exec services.

If required, please reboot the server.

SP3 has some problems. I've also not heard a lot of "good" things about Hotfix 34. But if you had SP2 running fine, then Hotfix 34 was of no issue.
