Backup Exec 10.1 jobs stalling

I have about 7 backup jobs scheduled to run on a quantum superloader library.

There seems to be one job per day that begins, and gets some byte count but does not complete and continues to elapse time.  Other jobs are missed because of this.  I have one job that had been doing this on hold to see if the other jobs complete successfully, but this morning there is another job doing the same thing.  the byte count is 8,088,348,488 and it has been running for 15+ hours.

Previous attempts at this job completed in 42 minutes with a 41,000,000,000 and change byte count...

the only way to cancel the job to allow backups later today without rebooting the server is to shut down the library...

Does anyone have any thoughts as to why this might happen?

thanks

Derek

Hi Derek,

The locking of the library comes from Backup Exec, which maintains a hold on the activity. Only way around this at times is to run an Unlock job from under Devices. It possibly locks this to prevent another application gaining hold of it and causing issues.
What exactly are you backing up on this job? Have you made any changes to your backup software like loading patches/service packs etc?
Have you looked at removing the RAWS agent from that server and reinstalling it?

Laters!

In further digging it appears the tape drive or media is locking during the backup process.  Library displays an error code 46 which quantum lists as host requested locking... not sure how to prevent locking of in use media
