Backup Exec 10 & Sony SDX-550V AIT Drive

We have Backup Exec v10 5484 and we are trying to install an external Sony SDX-550V AIT tape drive to use with it, Windows sees the drive fine. We ran tapeinst.exe but that indicated it couldn't find a driver for it so we downloaded BACKUPEXECTAPEDEVICEDRIVERINSTALL_277619.EXE from the Symantec website and installed that, whilst installing the server crashed and rebooted itself. We then ran tapeinst.exe again and this time it tried to install the driver but again the server crashed with event 1001 Save Dump - Bugcheck in the event log.

Server is Windows 2003 server.

Despite Backup Exec only being purchased recently I am finding it differcult to get support.

Can anyone help? Thanks, Dean.

Hello,

Please verify the compatibility of the device with BE v10.x

The status on this HCL is "TESTED", what does this actually mean?

Thanks.

Hi Dean,

If the status is "tested" , it means that the h/w is compatible.

You can install the veritas drivers .

If in HCL, it is stated as compatible then you can install oem drivers and go ahead.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks and regards,
