Backup Exec 12.5 on 2008 Server constantly failing

Hello:
I've been scratching my head and often find myself pulling my hair due to constant failure of backup. It has been failing the past few weeks.
The host server is running on a Windows Server 2008 with Backup Exec 12.5. All data are backing up to a Lacie Ethernet Disk.

I get the following error message:
Error category : Job Errors
Error : e0008821 - Job was recovered as a result of Backup Exec RPC service starting. No user action is required.

Spent numerous hours searching online, often finding myself back on Symantec's site but have not found anything close to my issue.
Hope someone can shed some light and help me resolve this error.

I've already checked the DCOM Config and it is set to default. Also did what was mentioned in another article for email notifications to select Summary information only.

the error which you are getting is quite generic , let me know what all resourses you are backing up , and looking at the job log you can tell on which resourse the backup errors out ....
Run live update and get all the patches and service pack installed

It is backing up SQL, Exch 07, system state and user data.
I did run live update, there are no updates available.

Normally in the job summary you would get a red box with the error...in this case there are none. All details are in blue...

Also, this may or may not be relevant but restarting the services doesn't help. Once the services are stopped, starting them will stall. Only way to get running is to reboot the server...something that has to be done off hours.
