Backup Exec 12.5 to 2010 upgrade

Hi All,

Recently i decided to upgrade our Backup Exec 12.5, but when i did that something very strange happened.

I made a clean install of Backup Exec 2010 and after that tried to import old catalogs. I tried to make a restore job but the selection list for the job was empty.

I read some Symantec papers concerning that problem but without any success.

Just to mention that in the catalog files have some made by Backup Exec 10.

If someone had the same problem, Please advice.

Hi Zax,

I'm upgrading my BE 12.5 into BE 2010 by using direct in place upgrade so i execute it uring the working hours on the same existing media server.

All is good and it upgrade everything by itself.

just make sure that you backed up the SQL Server DB just in case.

How did you do this?

Just to mention that in the catalog files have some made by Backup Exec 10.

It could be that they are not compatible with BE 2010.

You should try to catalog your media.  Make sure that you inventory them first.
