Hi,

For the last three days i am getting ths error, can someone point me in the right direction as how to solve this issue please.

 

V-79-57344-34110 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "System?State". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).

VSS Snapshot error. The Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) snapshot provider selected returned: "Unexpected provider error". Ensure that all provider services are enabled and can be started. Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

The following volumes are dependent on resource: "C:"

all services are running and have restarted the server twice as well.

You can try explicitly selecting the Microsoft VSS provider.  Edit your job and under AOFO, click on the third option and select the Microsoft provider fromt the drop-down.

I already have under snapshot provider: System-Use Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider.

Hello Jay,

Check the status of your writers by running vssadmin list writers from the command prompt ?

also check for errors in windows events during the time the backup runs to help determine what may be causing a conflict.
