Backup Exec 15 Licensing

I'm new to Backup Exec. Our office is planning to use BE15 to backup our data in two sites.

We have two locations that will be running BE. We plan to replicate data in site 1 to site 2. In site 2, there is a different data set which we want to replicate to site 1. Is this possible using Backup Exec 2015?

What are the required licenses for this setup? Someone told me that we need Enterprise Server Option and Optimized Dedupe Option. How about the licenses for the agents?

Thanks,

Vincent

Hi,

best bet honestly is to get hold of the licensing department who will tell you exactly what you need.

You can also refer to the 2 links below:

Craig,

Okay. Do you happen to know if the old licensing model is still applicable for BE15? I checked the guide and it mentioned both.

Thanks you

Hi Vincent,

First of all, you did not mention the configuration of the servers on both sites that need to be back'ed up. In specific cases, it might even be interesting to know the total capacity of data to be back'ed up on both sites.

also,

- is your environment purely physical? or are there virtual servers on VMware or Hyper-V hosts?

- are the respective Backup Exec Media Servers separate physical machines? or do they run virtual on a separate physical or on one of the forementioned virtual hosts?

The Backup Exec licensing guide  will certainly help you a lot. Further, as CraigV mentioned, both Veritas'  licensinig department as well as the one of your local distributor areable to help.

Feel free to post additional questions, we'll help too.
