Backup Exec 15 failing on CentOS 7

kkoekkoek
Level 3

RALUS for Backup Exec 15 installs on CentOS 7 however I then get a port bind error

Could not bind to port 10000 on IPv4, An error occurred during a socket bind operation: Error Code: 98, System Error Message: Address already in use

When trying to update to FP5 I get this platform is not supported error from symbdsnap even though CentOS 7 is listed in the Software Compatibilty matrix.

Any thoughts?

So sounds like something else is using port 10000.

symbdsnap is the open file option which is not supported on CentOS, hence that message is expected.

good to know about the open file option.

There is nothing else on 10000 though if I do an nbtstat the only thing on 10000 is beremote and if I stop the service there is nothing on 10000

This is the log console

cd969700 Wed Sep 21 12:56:44 2016 : Successfully resolved the "ndmp" service to port: 10000 (host order)
cd969700 Wed Sep 21 12:56:44 2016 : BETCPListener successfully installed a signal handler for SIGTERM

OK so that did point me in the right direction. There was an old instance of beremote running on port 10000 from Backup Exec 2010. stopped it and started log console and everything runs like magic now. Thanks for the help!
