Backup Exec 20.2 Dedup engine

Hey ya

After having all my verify jobs stall, I rebooted my backup exec server. On start up the Dedupe Engine service stays at starting. So far it has been 15 minutes - how long should it take ? No changes were made to the system before this issue started. Any ideas

It can take a bit depending on size of dedupe. You can monitor the startup from task manager -> performance -> resource monitor -> disk section -> select spoold. You can then see what this process is doing.

To further check, spoold.log in dedupestoragelocation\log\spoold would help as well.

When this comes up if dedupe is offline in BE UI then only recycle the BE services (dedupe dedupe services)

you can also run stconv --sttatus to check the state iof the concvverion proces between the old and new engine

As already stated the proces can take a while (depends on size of deduplication folder and amount of data etc written to it.)
