Backup Exec 2010 - Can we select in a Backup Job a network NAS as the storage location?

gf
Not applicable

Hi everybody!

We have now a backup job, which saves de data on a tape and we want to change that.

We want to save data now on a NAS. How can we change the storage location to the NAS? Now we can only select the tapedrive as the storage location..

--> The NAS is NOT directly connected with the Server. But it's in the same network.

After you checked that your NAS is supported, you need to go to the Devices tab and then add a backup-to-disk folder.  During the creation of this B2D folder, specify the UNC path to the NAS.  After you have created the B2D folder, you should be able to select the B2D folder as a backup destination.  Do take a look at Chapter 10 of the Admin Guide which can be found in the BE installation directory.

If the NAS is capable of doing iSCSI, use this. It works very well...i suspect that running it to a share is either not supported, or not going to work well with authentication issues that will crop up. Using iSCSI gets around any authentication issues you might experience! Thanks,

Hello,

First make sure your NAS is listed in the HCL for you Backup Exec version.

Here is a discussion you can refer to about using a NAS with B2D folders

Once you have created a backup to disk storage location on the NAS device you should be able to select it. Please take a look a the following document on NAS compatability as well.
