Backup Exec 2010/Dell RD-1000 Drive Issue

Hi,

I've connected a Dell RD-1000 Drive via USB to a server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard), which I'm having problems with it being recognised/picked up within Backup Exec 2010.

I've downloaded and installed the correct drivers for this tape drive and the actual server recognises it without a problem (it's assigned as a removal disk to the G drive).

When I go to the 'Devices' tab within Backup Exec and select 'Add Device', it says no other devices were found.

Let me know if you need anymore information, but I'm thinking maybe this hardware doesn't work with Backup Exec 2010..?

Hi TheNev,

From BE2010 Hardware Compatibility List (see link below), DELL RD1000 is supported but with limitations.

BE2010 HCL

Limitation issue

From the limitation isue link above, it indiacted to uo contact your hardware vendor  to update firmware.

In BE 2010 you don't add rdx as a device, you just add a removable B2D and point the configuration of this at the drive letter for the RDX

If you want to backup to this device, you should Add A Removable B2D Folder and them specify the device as the path

Hi,

Many thanks for the suggestions :)

Colin/pkh - Sorry to sound stupid here, but how do I go about doing that?

I'm not too familiar with the configuration within BE 2010.
