We currently run Backup Exec 2010 R3 alongside Exchange 2010.

Was this working earlier ? Does it always fail ? Is BE 2010 R3 and raws updated ? Does the backup work on local B2D ? Even though others are backed up I know it should not be the antivirus but worth checking. Also ensure the remote B2D has a consistant network connection

This has worked in the past. Backup exec is fully up to date as far as i can see. We don't have that amount of storage on the local disk.

This is connected via 2x 10gb Cisco Nexus switches so 100% stable.

Real time scanning is disabled.

Thanks,

Hi,

this error often occurs if another program/utility is running at the same time as the backup job.

  • Even though you have disabled real time scanning also try excluding all the Backup Exec processes from AV.
  • Make sure there aren't any maintenance/utility jobs running during the backup.
  • Check Windows Event Logs for errors that occur during the backup window.
  • If SSR is installed (or any other backup program) change the time to occur outside of Backup Exec's jobs. see: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH166398
  • also try to schedule a reboot to clear up any writer conlicts.

hope this helps.

is it consistantly failing now ? Would it be possible to connect a USB to media server and test the backup.
