Backup Exec 2010 R2 Linux Agents

I have Backup Exec 2010 R2 with SP1 plus Hotfix 150096 and Hotfix 144101 and I have a few Linux agents deployed with the file included in the CD (RALUS_RMALS_RAMS-4164.5.tar.gz) and also I have some new Linux agent installations to perform. So my question is: What is the recommended procedure to keep the Linux Agents updated and/or installed with all the latest Service Packs and Hotfixes? I can see there is documentation on the first time agent install, but not sure on how to proceed for the updates, and not sure on what to gather for first time installs including Service Packs and Hotfixes. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated! =)

Hi

While installing the linux agent for the first time you have to use the .tar file from BE 2010 installer in which you will see linux folder. & for installing the updates like sp1 or hotifxes for BE 2010 you will have to go to directory were BE 2010 is installed for example C-program file-symantec-backupexec-agents in which you will see ralussp1.tar as which you need to copy over on linux machine & then update it by using this

 ./istallraluspatch.sh

Please note even when you update this service pack or hotfixes on linux server the remote agent version will not  change as like it changes on Media server but to confirm if those updates have been installed or not you can check this

Go  to /opt/VRTSralus/bin and do: ls -l libDeviceIo.so . The new version has a Dec 8 18:26 time stamp.
( the new version of the library )

Hope this helps

Thank You

Thank you itsmeaffinity! I really appreciate your prompt and effective solution!

One more thing: I have all these files, and the newest one is at the bottom of the list:

03/25/2010 08:25   2,104,898     ralus2896HF344584.tar.gz
05/13/2010 10:16 10,614,565     ralus2896HF348315-Linux64.tar.gz
09/14/2010 13:40   2,057,513     ralus4164HF358289.tar.gz
10/07/2010 10:08             50     ralus4164HF358289.tar.out
10/27/2010 14:34   2,057,513     ralus4164HF138226.tar.gz
11/03/2010 20:01             50     ralus4164HF138226.tar.out
12/08/2010 21:28   2,057,057     ralus4164HF145462.tar.gz
12/09/2010 10:28   2,057,069     ralus4164HF143981.tar.gz
12/11/2010 09:24             50     ralus4164HF143981.tar.out
12/14/2010 15:05             50     ralus4164HF145462.tar.out
12/18/2010 09:33   2,057,072     ralus4164HF146017.tar.gz
12/18/2010 11:12             50     ralus4164HF146017.tar.out
12/23/2010 18:15   2,057,067     ralus4164SP1.tar.gz

So most likely the file you are talking about is ralus4164SP1.tar.gz right? If so, shall I understand that there are no "Hotfixes" for the Linux Agent after the SP1, and that installing the file from the CD plus the SP1 will put the system with the latest agent version?

Either way, once again, thank you so very much for replying itsmeaffinity! =)
