Hello
We are using Backup Exec 2010 R3 to backup Microsoft Exchange 2007.
When job makes snapshot processing:
1. First Storage Group - is ok
2. Second Storage Group - is ok
3. SOURCE: exchange server\D: (backup of drive D:)
DESTINATION: Media created 2015-02-19 .....
CURRENT DIRECTORY: \MessageTracking
CURRENT FILE: MSGTRKM20150219-1.LOG ( this is a Exchange Message Tracking Log )
Job stops and do nothing. It's waiting and waiting on this file. I must cancel job because it will be waiting for infinity.
What can i do whith this ?

Pls do ensure Advanced Open File option isn't enabled for the Exchange backup job.

Hello
Advanced Open File option is disabled.
Advanced Open File
Exchange Server backup method: | Full - Database & Logs (flush committed logs) |
Mailbox backup method: | Full - Back up messages - Reset archive bit |

Try creating a new backup which has only the D:\ as backup selections and keep AOFO on. If running any AV, set it to exclude from scanning the BE processes. Does this backup complete successfully ?
Secondly, do NOT enable Mailbox backup method. This is not recommended and instead enable GRT.

GRT is enabled.
Preform consistency check - enabled
Continue with backup if consistency fail - enabled

Have you ran a backup job of just the D:\ with AOFO on as suggested earlier ?
02-20-2015 12:12 AM
Does the native Windows backup of the D:\ volume complete successfully ?
02-20-2015 12:12 AM
I tried to enable AOFO for all job - nothing change, backup stop and waiting for infinity.
Only for D: - I will try later.
02-23-2015 06:34 AM
I checked native windows backup - I did it without any problems.
02-23-2015 06:49 AM
Ok, so Windows backup completes successfully.
Create a new backup job from Backup Exec with AOFO on and only for D:\ volume. Does this complete successfully now ?
02-24-2015 01:14 AM
I have created new backup job only for D:\ volume without AOFO.
It also did without any problems.

Great. Now setup two backup jobs.
1) Without AOFO and select only the Exchange Information Store and their DBs.
2) With AOFO on and select the C:\, D:\, System State etc of the Exchange server.
Do ensure these backup jobs do not conflict with their run timings and all should be good.

Both of these jobs did without any problems.
But my orginal backup job scheduled to do everyday still stop and waiting, waiting waiting.....

Ideally, you should be splitting off the Exchange Information Store & its DBs from the rest of the drives since Exchange resource does not require AOFO whereas the drives requires AOFO.
I would recommend to keep these two new jobs and remove the original job.

It's strange because 3 months ago backup was doing perfect - without any problems.
We didn't change anything and now backup freezing and waiting for infinity.
