Am I right in thing that Backup Exec 2010 R3 will function with a HP LTO-6 Ultrium 6250 tape drive? I have checked on the HCL and it is listed. Am I likely to get the improved speeds over a LTO-5 drive using Backup Exec 2010 R3.
Many Thanks

If found on the HCL then the answers to your questions would be Yes and Yes

I thought that should be the case, only raised the question as some other articles suggest LTO6 is only compatible with BE 2012.
Many Thanks

LTO5 and LTO6 have the same minimum speeds, but slightly different top-end speeds. in 9 out of 10 cases, you will not see a speed boost with LTO6 and BackupExec.

Teiva-boy is right. Unless you are already running your LTO5 drive at the max tape drive speed (from HP's spec sheets), you will not get faster performance from an LTO6. In other words, unless your tape drive is your performance bottleneck, raplacing your tape drive will not increase your overall performance.
