Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP2 backup slow with trend officescan client

It seems for me that in some cases the slow system state backup of 2008 R2 servers may be linked to trend micro officescan 10.6 (sp1 is not yet available for my locale)

Disabling real time scan does not help.

When trend officescan client runs, backup of System state is slow (185 MB/min)

When the client is unloaded, backup of system state reaches 750+ MB/min.

Any ideas ?

For instance :

  1. Do you know of an existing fix for trend osce, or Symantec BE; or will this issue be tackled later ?
  2. A workaround like disabling the AV when BE starts his backup ? seems difficult since you have to disable the trend client service interactively for obvious reasons. And i dont know how to detect that the server is being backup without some decent script.

Thanks.

Hi

Have you checked this link , If not please check & try the following steps

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH73433

Also try to involve trend micro support to verify settings, as you have confirmed when you unload trend micro backup speed is good & only when trend micro is there speed is slow

Thanks

OK i will contact trend to know if there is anything new about this issue.

Moreover, http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH73433  is quite messily written.

I may disable officescan real time scan service, but i think it could also impact programmed scans, since the officescan real time scan is the only service on AV client servers.

This is a too big security hole to create.
