Hello,
We are sure this question has been answered previously, so apologies if this is the case, however we have failed to find an answer.
We were wondering if anyone can confirm if we can use SQL Express 2008 R2 for the Backup Exec 2010 R3 database.
If not which is the most recent edition we can use. We would prefer to avoid using SQL Express 2005 if possible.
We will be installing on Windows Enterprise Server 2008 R2 64bit with the Backup Exec Exchange Agent. This will be on the same server as we have our MicrosoftExchange 2010 Enterprise edtion installed on.
Is anyone aware of a reason why theses should be on spearate servers.
Regards
Spencer Clark

The Backup Exec SCL does contain a section called
Backup Exec Database Repository Compatibility
Which covers up to SQL 2008 SP1 and SP2 (No mention of R2)
Are you planning on just installing the SQLinstance on your Exchnage server or the media server itself?
Also are you planning on sharing the SQL instance with the database for another application, is yes then be aware this is not recommended.

As of now SQL Express 2008 R2 is not supported by any version of Backup Exec.
However BE2010 R3 supports SQL Server 2008 R2
