Backup Exec 2010 R3 suddenly not connecting.

Windows Server 2008 R2, Backup Exec 2010 R3. System has been running without incident for literally years, with the occasional reboot just to keep things tidy. About a week ago I did such a reboot, but now BE no longer runs. When I launch it I get a "Connect to Media Server" dialog with the message "Backup Exec Services on BACKUP Stopped."

If I click SERVICES and then START ALL SERVICES I get this:

When you ran beserver -console, did you start the command prompt using runs as administrator as it is possible the log you posted is affected by this and not showing your actual issue.

Try the following:

1) First, check if there is any large job log file (xml file) under \Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Data directory. If there is, remove it and recheck if the services start up fine.

If there isn't, then try the following -

1) Run a repair install of .NET, MSXML, Report Viewer and Backup Exec

2) Add AV exclusions to the BE directories and specifically the CRF directory under C:\ProgramData\Symantec\CRF

There are a number of job log files in that folder. The smallest is 1K; the largest is 391K. Not sure if this qualifies as a "large" file in this case.

After running the mentioned repairs, it looks like everything's back to normal again. (For now?) Thanks!
