Backup Exec 2010 full backup files not being overwritten

We have two small business customers who do a full backup each day, with those backups copied to a second remote drive. In each instance the full backup seems to be leaving a 10 gig "remnant" file from the previous backup. Our experience with previous versions is the full backup fully replaces the earlier files. We are running version 13.0, revision 2896, 64 bit in both environments.

Hi,
I guess it's a configuration problems.

How are the job configured? are you sure you select the overwrite option?
Does media set options, let the tapes be overwrited?

What is the OPP (Overwrite Protection Period) of the media set the data is written to?

Are the jobs Overwrite or Append

From Tools\Media Management, is the option to "Use Overwriteable Media in the target media set before scratch media" selected?
