Backup Exec 2012 SCL

 Does the back up exec 2012 support the below Linux edition:

Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production

PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production

CORE    11.2.0.2.0      Production

TNS for Linux: Version 11.2.0.2.0 - Production

NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.2.0 – Production

Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux Server release 5.6 (Carthage)

Oracle Linux Server release 5.6

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.6 (Tikanga)

BE 2012 SCL

If the Linux variant and the Oracle version is listed, then it is supported. For example, RHEL 5.6 is listed, so it is supported.

Hello mdmasih_p1 Oracle database 11g r2 enterprise, standard, standard one, lite and personal 64 bit Supported Pl/sql 11.2.0.2.0 Not supported for backup TNS 11.2.0.2.0 Not supported for backup Nlsrtl 11.2.0.2.0 Noy supported for backups Oracle enterprise linux upto update 4 is supported Oracle enterprise linux 5.6 is not supported as if now Rhel 5.6 is supported Rhel 4.1 is not supported I believe above you want to confirm if pl/sql, tns and listner (oracle components) can be backed up with backup exec 2012 We cannot backup this files and services with oracle agent We can only backup control files, redo logs archive logs , databases etc with oracle agent Thus with it you can restore databases , tablespaces or database files. Also as per attached SCl page 18, Oracle Linux 5.6 seems to be supported.

Regarding pl/sql, tns and listner apart from services, hope we can backup other db,files tablespaces with oracle agent? Please confirm

Things like PL/SQL are software which does not produce any data for BE to back up, so they are not listed in the SCL.  They can be backed up when you do a file backup of the server.  They are not backed up using the Oracle agent which only backs up the contents (data) of Oracle databases.  Since you have the Oracle agent licence, you also have the RALUS licence and can backup files/folders on the Linux machine, so you can backup your PL/SQL, etc.

The SCL is the ultimate reference source for what is supported.  There is no other reference.  If a software version is not listed in the SCL, then it is not supported.

Hello md Sorry for late reply however pl/sql tns and listener are services hence with linux agent aswell you wont be able yo back it up as agent has limitations...with backup exec 2012 we have introduced snapshot backups for linux however it is supported for rhel and suse linux few versions...may be in future we might have this snapshot provider for other flavors of linux which would than might be able to back up those files however until than I dont think you would be able to back up listner tns files.... Yes you are right oracle 5.6 linux is supported... Hope this resolves your issue...

RedHat Linux 5.3 (or 5.0 with Update 3) is supported by SSR 2011.
