Backup Exec systemsettings:(Virtual Machine running on a ESX5.0 vsphere)
Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit, Intel Xeon E5405 @ 2.00GHz, 8.00GB, 2 disk; Systemdisk 68.2gb and 19.7GB free, Seconddisk 279GB and 278GB free (dir for temp)
Exchangeserver (also on ESX5.0 vsphere):Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit, Intel Xeon E5405 @ 2.00GHz, 16.00GB, 3 disks from 80GB till 240GB with 20% space free.
Our backup gives sometimes the following message after failing;
"EXCHANGESERVER"- Backup-Daily - Incremental -- The job failed with the following error: Cannot extract mailbox messages from the Exchange backup. Review the job log for more information.
see errors:
Any suggestions for solving this problem. Found a lot sollutions for Backupexec 2010 R3, but this seems not to be the problem with Backupexec 2012

Also try http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH127758 if the issue is not resolved by the first technote.
Is this issue visible only on incremental backups or on Full backups also?

Have you tried pushing out the RAWS again to the VM and rebooting the VM?

I am seeing this same error but when I look at the logs, I see:
V-79-57344-915 - Unable to complete the operation. The following error wasreturned when opening the Exchange Database file: '-1022 There is a disk IO error. '
