I am curious as to how best to backup the actual Backup Exec Server. If the server were to die, what is the best way to restore it back to how it was?

Hi Crazy,
From a BE perspective, you'd need the Data and Catalogs folders. If you don't have the SQL agent, then you wouldn't be able to backup the BEDB using this method. HOWEVER, on a nightly basis at 4AM BE creates a backup of this called bedb.bak. This is stored in the Data folder.
You would be able to recover from a total server failure by installing the OS and patching it, bringing it up on the domain and installing BE before copying the Data/Catalogs folders over and reloading the BEDB using BEutility. This would be: Drop database and reload from Backup.
Pretty much all you would need on the server unless it is also running other applications, or had ISO files or files and folders required.
Thanks!
