Backup Exec 2012 Upgrade to 2014 or 15

We are currently looking to upgrade our Backup Exec 2012 CASO/MMS environment and have some questions:

  1. We would be keeping our existing servers and upgrading the Backup Exec software.  What is the recommended path since 15 is now the current version?  Should we go to 2014 first and then 15 or go straight from 2012 to 15?
  2. The CASO and MMS's are at 2012 SP3.  Should SP4 and the post HF be applied before the upgrade? (I have read some postings of many issues with SP4, so that is why we never applied it).
  3. If we go to 15, and since it would take some time to get all of our Windows Agents on all of the servers updated, are there any issues with running the backup servers on 15 and the Windows Agents on 2012?

Any information or input from other users who have gone through this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You should upgrade from BE2012 to BE15 directly. Before upgrade stop SQL service and make a copy of Data and Catalog folder located in the installation directory. In CASO\MMS environment you need to first upgrade CASO and then MMS.

You can upgrade without applyig SP4.

Its always recommended to use CASO\MMS and Remote Agents of the same version. You should plan to upgrade remote agent at earliest.
