Backup Exec 2012 new install

There is an existing Backup exec 2012, with 2 remote servers are getting backed up. As of now there is a tape library(Storage) issue which we have come across.

Now we are planning to re-install everything from scratch.

1. What are the precautions that we need to take?

2. And if we re-install/re-configure completely? will the tapes readable which are backed up earlier?

If we preserve the catalogue safely? will that answer the second question

Thanks,

Hi,

1. Reinstalling from scratch...no precautions, assuming you don't mind losing all your data on your tapes. If you want a blank BEDB, then you can uninstall and reinstall the media server. Uninstall RAWS off the 2 remote servers too. Once the media server is installed, run LiveUpdate to get SP1a and any subsequent patches, before push-installing your RAWS agents to the 2 remote servers. If you wanted the information on the tapes, you'd then need to catalog each tape to add that information back to the new BEDB.

2. The other option is to follow the TN below which makes sure you can use the same BEDB, and maintains the Catalogs/Data folders...not going to be useful if you want to start from a blank BEDB though.
