Dear Tim,

Our customer want to backup their SQL server using Symante BE 2012, but for the minim budget, they do not purchase for the SQL agent, they asking us....,

in SQL, there is a feature to backup the SQL database, then the backup they put into a folder, and then they backup the folder using Symantec BE 2012, so...when they restore the data, they do twice restore, first from BE and then restore trought the SQL application. what i.m trying to say is...,can BE 2012 do such a thing like that without purchase SQL agent? Thanks before....

Regards

R

And to take a flat file backup of SQL databases, you would need to either stop the SQL services before the backup or disable active file exclusion.

The original poster asked about the ability to backup files created by SQL's own backup/dump database facility. You do not have to stop SQL services or change AFE settings to backup these files. You only need to make these sorts of changes to backup the actual MDF and LDF files etc.

Error acknowledged. Or rather my error in interpreting the OP's query. Thanks for the feedback & minuses.
