Cool - you added the new WinPE image (WinPE 5) for 2012 R2/8.1 rather than replaced your WinPE 4 image right? SDR is still available for the older releases?

Yes SDR is still available for older releases (BE2012) and IDR (BE2010); just to confirm that is what you are asking.

I actually meant that the original BE2014 SDR used Windows PE 4 (not sure what subversion) and that is why it didn't support computers based on the 8.1 kernel (PE4 didn't work with them apparently). So I assume you have a SDR disc for Pre 2012R2/8.1 and 2012R2/8.1 since you can't have 2 Windows PE installs on the same disc.

Got it, yes.  Correct, you cannot have 2 Winows PE installs on the same disc, the new one will work with pre 2012R2/8.1 OS's.

Since all is working fine here for us, I'd like to simply wait until its available via Live Update to keep our Version fully updated. Will you be posting the Date for that here in this Blog when its available via Live Update? Thanks

Hi Cathy-IT,

Yes, we will circle back on this posting to update it with LiveUpdate Information.  At this time I can share with you that we are on track targetting end of next week (By October 3rd) - but I'll circle back and update this thread when it gets released to LiveUpdate.

Do i need to upgrade my remote agents from BE2014 RM to SP1 also ?

Yes it is recommended to update your remote agents as well.

Just to circle back on this thread, SP1 for Backup Exec 2014 will be posted on LiveUpdate on Monday, October 6th.

Backup Exec 2014 upgrade or installation fails on the Environment Check reporting you must remove the previous versions and then restart the installation. Server is running Windows Server 2003 x64.  Current version of Backup Exec is 2012, all updates/hotfixes have been installed.  Is the work around available for the upgrade?

chechler  Can you send me a PM with your contact information?

This is a known issue : http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH222875

Backup Exec 2014 SP1 Release Notes

Hi

I'm new user to the Symantec Backup exec 2014. i want to know. Can  i restore individual SQL database tables by using Granuary recovery technology of symantec Backup exec 2014 ?

I already tried it but i can only restore database. can't restore individual tables

Thank you

Hello Nilantha

No, you can't restore individual SQL db tables. And, that is to safeguard your SQL db because when it comes to such individual table restore, you could end up with an inconsistent database which I guess no body wants. Note that a SQL transaction may span a couple of tables. Restoring one table would mean an incomplete transaction and thus an inconsistent database.

You may however re-direct the restore of the database to a test database and access the info you need. I personally think that it is best to restore elsewhere and then get what you need.

hi

I created the Recovery disk using Backup exec 2014 and try to restore my server to another server (Server consist active directory and sql server 2008). it properly worked.my Active directory work fine but sql server not fully backuped. it recoverd sql server but not recoverd any databases.

Thank you

Hello Nilantha

After you use the Recovery Disk to recover the Windows server, SDR automatically replaces the damaged master and model databases with copies of the master database and the model database.

After SQL is restarted and the latest master database backup and all other system databases are restored, you must still restore all user databases. Use the Backup Exec Restore wizard to restore the latest backups.

Does anyone know if a server reboot is required after updating the remote agent for windows on the corresponding server? If so, we'll wait with the rollout of SP1

It seems like W2k3 requires a reeboot, but not W2K8 and above.

Regards Jens

Yes Jens..Thats true

Is the information 'Steve Y' gives above, still valid? (See https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/backup-exec-2014-sp1-now-available#comment-10542921)

Ref. KB article TECH222875. Will the upgrade from BE2012 to 2014 still fail on Environment Check, "Backup Exec 2012 or 4.0.1798 was found on the computer and must be removed" ?

Can this error message be safely ignored and run the upgrade anyway?
