Backup Exec 2014 Tape Library.

Hi

We installed backup Exec 14 on windows 2008 r2  working fine.

we also connected Tape drive HP MSL 2024p  configured fine

What as the Issue..

we installed 3 tape media in to the library.. we can see the 3 tape media. 

customer need to take the backup of each server in each tape media. it mean three server 3 media.  how can i configure.

in the storage option in backup police it's showing Media drive 01 only. 

could you please provide me step by step indivitual tape media. configuration.

Hi,

The MSL2024 only comes with 1 drive standard which is correct in what you are seeing in BE 2014.

If you want each server to target a specific tape, then easiest way around this is to create 3 partitions with enough slots in them to handle the amount of tapes it will take to backup each server. Then point the relevant jobs to the relevant slot.

However, if there aren't enough tapes in a slot and you need to span more, the job will not look in another partition...it will either queue the job while waiting for a tape to be imported, or fail. Just bear that in mind.

Instead of creating 3 partitions, just create 3 media set and target each of your jobs to these 3 media sets.

You'd go into your specific job and instead of targetting the drive/all slots, it would be for a specific partition.
