I have three 2012 R2 Hyper-V servers in a WFC "storage only" cluster. We're not currently concerned about clustering the Hyper-V role, but all of the Hyper-V guest data is stored on a single cluster shared volume (CSV). I'm trying to get just one of the guests backed up, and I'm having trouble with the agent on the host.
So I'm trying to back up server GUEST that is a Windows 2008R2 server running on HOST. Soon after starting, the job hangs with a status of "Snapshot Processing", and then fails after about 30-45 minutes. There is nothing in the event logs on the guest, but on the host, I see this right about the time that the job fails. What I find interesting is the part that says "the call to the cluster resource DLL timed out". This tells me that it's related to the storage, because that the only clustered resource in play. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the agents, but haven't done any rebooting yet. These hosts each have 10+ servers on them, so I'd rather not unless it's absolutely necessary.
