Backup Exec. 9.1 Media mount failed

Hello All

We have had a successful backup running for a long long time but lately it has not completed successfully at all.

When backing up to tape it gets through 21GB of data and then access to the unit stops and the tape ejects itself.

The tape unit is a 20/40GB DAT unit and the total amount of Data is about 22GB. The backup is set to compress via Hardware then if not available software.

Can anyone give me some ideas please.

Thanks

Is there any alert saying to Insert an Overwritable Media?

I think there is yes ? does this mean the tape is full ?

If so what is the compression ratio ? the device is set with the Enable Compression ?

Hello,

The TAPE is FULL and BE is asking for another TAPE.
As you are using Hardware compresion, its the responsibility of the TAPE Drive to compress the data, I think compression is not working on the TAPE Drive.

Compression also depends on what files are been backed up. Example : .ZIP, .MP3, .DLL files are already in compressed format and cannot be further compressed...

Hope this helps...
