Dear Comunity,

Our customers want to use Backup Exec Syamntec 2010, to insfrastructure it, they use an exchange server and an Active Directory, they want to backup the exchange server and active directory, and as a backup medium they use a tape library, which we ask is:
1. what backup exec product should we use?
2. what license should we wear?
3. how is the best way for configuration and on the set?
4. whether it can, if only using the Symantec backup exec server core course for both server?

Thank you.

1. what backup exec product should we use?

you can use backup exec for windows .
2. what license should we wear?

You would need a base license along with agent for Mirosoft Exchange and active directory agent .

active directory agent will allow you to restore individual active directory object , so only if you need that functionality you can go for the AD agent license or else even system state backup is enough for restoring the complete active directory server.

3. how is the best way for configuration and on the set?

did not quite get the questions. you can have two backup jobs configured

1 backup backing all the files , system state and shadow copy componenet and  the other backup job backing up exchange data and make sure you dont select the AOFO option

4. whether it can, if only using the Symantec backup exec server core course for both server?you would need a remote agnet license to backup any remote server , if you have just the core license it can only backup itself and but for backing up exchange you need the exchange agent license .  you you

For question 3, it depends on the exchange data size. If your data size is too big and backup runs beyond your backup windows, you may consider backup to disk. Also, if you would like to make use of GRT, it is advisable to backup to disk before duplicate to tape.
