Can I install BE on the Exchange server? or do I have to just install the agent on the Exchange Server and the BE Program on a different server?

Apologize for the silly question. I am new to BE.

TY!!

It is best to install Exchange on a seperate server than Backup Exec. The Backup Exec server may require more frequent rebooting which isnt practicle for an Exchange server in a production environment .It is also best practice to install Exchange on a server that is not a Domain Controller.  Take look at the Best Practices for the Exchange Agent.  http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO74428

Once Backup Exec is installed on a server then you would push the remote agent to whatever server Exchange is installed on. see here for more information http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO74428

Both can be done.

You can either install Backup Exec on the Exchange server or install Backup Exec on a different machine and install Remote Agent for Windows System (RAWS) on the Exchange Server.

Second option is recommended though...  i.e. install Backup Exec on a different machine and RAWS on Exchange server to backup the database.
