I have a tape drive HP 1/8 g2. From cartridges are created several partition on 1-2 cartridge.
when creating a backup job for the server to a storage device, choose one of the partition. Where to specify a period of storage of backup copies?
In the " Memory" when select a specific section such an option, It appears when select " Any available storage ."
How to make so that in the schedule for a server backup at full and differential copying with a different period of storage of copies to use an identical set of media (1 section)?

Hi,
Partitions are soft divisions of slots and have nothing to do with the media retention settings.
You can check this on the media set properties, and you're looking for Append and Overwrite Protection settings. This allows tapes to be retained, and returned to the Scratch set once they are "expired".
You can select the actual partition you want to use in the job setup. You don't mention the version of Backup Exec, so check below for BE 2010 and BE 2012:

Thanks!

Just to elaborate on Craig's answer - you configure your media set with it's overwrite protection (and append) period settings first, using the Storage section of the BE 2012 console (and not as part of the job itself). Once you have done this, you then edit the job and in the same screen where you choose the partition, you also choose the media set you configured for your requirements.
