Backup Exec Requirement

Dear Experts,

I am new to Backup Exec, currently I have Enterprise - Backup Exec Std. Lic. - EA. I have 9 servers with different database and applications.

I need to backup 5 of them : 2 servers with oracle database and 3 sql 2008 databases.

What must I have for back up exec for those requirement?

You need below licenses....

1 Backup Exec core product (Includes remote agent for the BE server)

5 Agent for App and DB lincese. (Includes 1 remote agent per license)

Are these servers Physical or Virtual?

Are you using a Tape Library? If yes then how many tape drives are there in the library?

Before purchasing license check BE15 software compatibility list  to make sure your existing

applications are compatible with BE15.

You said that you have 9 servers but you say that you need to backup 5 servers. What about the other 4 servers? If they are file servers and needs to be backed up, then you need 4 remote agent licences for them. If you want to backup applications/databases on them then you would need one Agent for Application and Databases for each application/database for each server

All servers are physical. I am using IBM RDX as follow :

3 servers attached drive with rdx, similar to this picture:

one of those 3 servers will backup all file server, the other 2 will backup database oracle and SQL server

and I have other RDX mounted to 4 rows of 1u station, looks as follow for 1u :

I just want to use 1 row only which contains 2 RDX.

So there are 5 servers, instead of 4 I mentioned previously, sorry for that.

While the other servers will daily copy to the server which has RDX

It is not clear from your description what your configuration is and what exactly you are trying to do.  It would be better for you to contact either Symantec or a reseller and get them to come in and take a look at your setup and advice you accordingly.
