Backup Exec Server Service keeps stopping

Hello -

I have just installed Backup Exec 10d on a Windows Server 2003 machine. We are using a Quantum DLT VS160 drive. Every time I start the Backup Exec Server service, I get an error regarding "an unhandled Win32 exception occurred in beserver.exe", and the service stops.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Jim

Additional info... Server is running SQL 2005. During installation, could not use existing instance of SQL, as it was looking for 2000, and would not see 2005. Loaded on MSDE.

In going through the forum, found a reply to another question which states that Backup Exec 10d cannot run on a system running SQL 2005. Is this true?

Hello,

- It is not recommended to use Veritas Backup Exec 10d on SQL 2005 as it is not tested.

- You need to use SQL 2000 on that server.

- Veritas hotfix 6 is used when you need to backup SQL 2005.
