Backup Exec and Hyper-V Agent

Hello, I have a general question. We want to use Backup Exec for our virtual machines. I want to know, if I have to install the backup exec software on a additional server and the Agent for MS Virtual Servers on the Hyper-V host or if both have to be installed on the Hyper-V host?

I use the trial version. After  installation, the Agent finds the VM's automatically?

Thanks!

It is recommended to install Backup Exec on a separate server.
The trialversion includes the Hyper-V Agent for a 60-day trial installation.

Please have a look at the following technote:

You can install the Backup Exec on the hyper-v Host or on different server. To backup the vms in the hyper-v you need to have a hyper-v license and that license need to be installed in the backup exec. You have to click on tools - installs options and license key and install the license for hyper-v. If your BE server is remote server and not installed on hyper-v then you need to just install the remote agent on the hyper-v host to backup the host
