Backup Exec and Linux (centos 7.9.2009)

Hi team,

Good day

We are planning to deploy Backup Exec 21 on their Azure Infrastructure.

They have Mysql Enterprise on Linux (centos 7.9.2009), the process is dumping database files

Is Backup Exec 21 Can backup this?

By the way they also want to duplicate the backup down (On premise) Run backups in the cloud, store them on-premises

Is Backup Exec also can do this?

Thank you in advance

Hi,

First thing to do is to check the BE 21 SCL. If the version of CentOS is not listed, then it's strictly not supported:

Backup Exec 21 - 21.x Software Compatibility List (SCL) (veritas.com)

To duplicate backups to the cloud, you need the Cloud Connector, and the TN below will help you set this up:

How to Configure the Backup Exec Cloud Connector for Microsoft Azure (veritas.com)

Thanks!

In addition to CraigV's advise and especially in regards to this:
"By the way they also want to duplicate the backup down (On premise) Run backups in the cloud, store them on-premises"

Just keep in mind that the "download" costs from the cloud to on-premise is larger then the upload cost and the suggested strategy might create unexpected costs.
