Backup Exec 11d on SBS 2003
Version 11.0 Rev. 6235
Every backup is failing on E0008821 Errors, or will continiously run and not finish! The only way I have found of stopping it is not stop the services, which gets stuck on stopping BEengine and BEserver so I have to kill them in process explorer. Not ideal!
tape drive is a Tandberg LTO using 200GB tapes. The backup itself should only be 60 - 70 GB.
Please ask if there are any more details that would be helpful.

Check windows event viewer for any error related to the BEngine service.
Also upgrade to BE11d 7170

running liveupdate, it says all products are up to date.
Event viewer shows
mssql$bkupexec
error, event id: 17750
Could not load the DLL XPDLOShareu.dll, or one of the DLLs it references. Reason: 126(error not found).
and the only other ones are for job cancelled.

7170 is not to be downloaded via LiveUpdate
Use this link for download - https://www4.symantec.com/Vrt/offer?a_id=30140
Grab a copy of your DATA, CATALOGS & licenses before the upgrade...
Also, if any AV running, is it exempted from scanning BE services ?

with my AV (AVG) should I just exclude the Backup Exec folder in Program Files?

The tape drive mentioned above does not appear in the HCL of BE11d.
