Backup Exec server requirements when using OST devices

Hi, I have a question about the Backup Exec server requirments when using an OST appliance for deduplication (such as DD). It mentions in the Admin Guide the following:

------------------

The standard system requirements for Backup Exec apply to the Deduplication feature when you use Open Storage devices.
-------------------

What does this mean? Does this mean that if the OST device does say 64TBs of deduplication, BE server would still require 32GB or more physical memory as recommended in the Admin Guide even though most of the deduplication workload takes place at the OST device. Is this understanding correct?

64 TB storage and 32 GB RAM is for the BE dedupe. When using the BE dedupe, we install a service which helps with chunk calculation, identification and takes up that much memory.

To use OST Appliance like Data domain or any other, standard BE requirements stand as our BE services only move the data to OST Appliance as we would to a normal disk storage.

I see. So in this case, only the standard BE server system requirements mentioned in the Admin Guide would be required. Thanks for the clarification.
