Backup Exec support for Windows 2012

Trana

Hi,

Two questions, very happy for an answer to the 1st only if you dont know the answer to the second question.

1. When will Backup Exec support backing up Windows Server 2012?\

2. When Backup Exec supports Windows Server 2012, will Backup Exec support backup and restore on Windows Server disks, where Windows Deduplication is in use?

Thanks,

Trana

Win 2012 is not yet compatiable with any version of Backup Exec.

Thanks, that helps. But it doesnt answer the main question.

When will it be supported/be comptaible?

Installing any Beta version of Backup Exec in my production environment to backup my production Windows 2012 Server is not an option.

Or to rephrase, whats the latest release date for the official full version Backup Exec 2012 R2?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, Symantec does not publish roadmaps or ETA of a product.

Would recommend to subscribe to this KB - http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH196108

This way, you would be duly notified of the update.

This is driving me batty! They posted the information regarding the beta in June, and now there is still no update on when 2012 R2 is coming? Symantec has had months to test the Pre-Release versions of Windows just like every other vendor. I am itching to deploy Windows Server 2012 in my environment, but I can't until I can back it up. Hurry up Symantec!

Symantec aren't the only backup vendor that doesn't have support just yet. It seems like CA will only have support for Windows Server 2012 in March 2013!

I understand, heck Microsoft's own DPM Product doesn't support it yet. My frustration is with the tease of a beta in June, and we hear nothing about it for over 4 months now. If the beta wasn't even close, why publish that?

...I totally agree on that!
