In our enviroment, we have 3 Backup Exec servers in 3 location and would like to perform deduplication replication backup. All the Backup Exec servers were running Windows Server 2012 R2 OS.
Master site
A Backup Exec 15 server with Centralize Admin option.
Hosting Backup Exec deduplication storage.
For handle all the the backups for servers in master site.
DR site
A Backup Exec 15 server managed by Backup Exec 15 server in Master site.
Hosting Backup Exec deduplication storage.
With very high speed network connection, the backup performed in master site will be deduplicate to DR site once the backup completed.
Remote site
A Backup Exec 15 server managed by Backup Exec 15 server in Master site.
Hosting Backup Exec deduplication storage.
For handle all the the backups for servers in remote site.
By the network connection, the backup performed in remote site will be firstly deduplicate to master site, then deduplicate to DR site once the backup completed.
All the backup jobs will be setup in Centralize Admin Backup Exec 15 server in master site, and the deduplication storages were shared to all other 2 Backup Exec 15 servers for the deduplication task.
For backing up the servers in remote site, the job chain will be setup as below:
(1) Backup to Remote site deduplication storage
(2) Deduplicate to Master Site deduplication storage
(3) Deduplicate from Maste Site to DR site deduplication storage
For backing up the servers in master site, the job chain will be a little bit simpler as below:
(1) Backup to Master Site deduplication storage
(2) Deduplicate from Maste Site to DR site deduplication storage
However, we found the backup jobs always performed by a wrong server.
For example, when Backing up the data within master site to deduplication storage, the job always allocated to the Backup Exec 15 server in remote site, and the job will be failed after running for a few hours.
Any way to may Backup Exec server run the job using correct Backup Exe server? Thank you.
