Dear All,

                I  installed the remote agent on Windows Server 2012 R2 using Backup Exec 2012 SP4 on two of our servers.The backup is running fine for one of the server but the other server gives an error " Client Side Deduplication is enabled for this job but could not be used.So, i would like to know that Backup Exec 2012 with SP4 is compatible for installing Remote Agent in Windows Server 2012 R2 or not. If it is compatible then why it is giving this error.

BE 2012 does not support Win 2012 R2. There can be multiple reasons as to why it still got installed on an unsupported OS.

Rather than troubleshooting as to why it got installed on an unsupported OS, i would recommend to upgrade to BE 2014 which supports Win 2012 R2.

Dear Rahul, 

                        The link which you send says that it will support Remote Agent for windows Server 2012 but there is nothing mentioned here regarding the remote agent can deployed or it will support  for windows Server 2012 R2. Please confirm that the remote agent can be installed in windows Server 2012 R2 by using Backup Exec 2012 SP4

                    As i mentioned in the earlier post that i installed the remote agent in windows server 2012 R2 using Backup Exec 2012 SP4.Another link which you have send me i already verified and everything matches with the link and also restarted the services.Eagerly waiting for the solution.

Hi Bash,

You can check the Backup Exec 2012 SCL to see that the Agent for Windows Systems is not supported in Windows 2012 R2:

You should upgrade to BE 2014. 

Also, bear in mind, that the AWS cannot be installed in a ReFS or deduplication volume of W2012 R2.
