I was getting errors similar to this backing up a DB2 database. I believe upgrading to 2010 R3 resolved them. Are you on the latest 2010 release? If you aren't, I would upgrade and make sure the remote server agent is upgraded too.

Hello Hrishikesh,
You may want to refer to the following technotes on the same issue:

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH72604 : Oracle/DB2 Agent: How to troubleshoot Oracle/DB2 backup or restore jobs which fail with the error "The Database script returned an error. Refer to the Database script output section in job logs for more details"

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76717 : Oracle backups fail with the error : 0xe0000340 - The Database script returned an error. Refer to the Database script output section in job logs for more details. The RMAN Output shows the error : "RMAN-06428: recovery catalog is not installed".

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH72297 : Oracle backups fail with error 0xe0000340 - The Database script returned an error. Refer to the Database script output section in job logs for more details. ORA-09925: Unable to create audit trail file

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH156444 : Oracle jobs fail if the FQDN is not in the media server's authentication list

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH124389 : Oracle database backups fail with RMAN error 06403 "Could not obtain a fully authorized session" and Oracle error ORA-01034 "ORACLE not available Recovery Manager complete"

If any of the above technote does not resolve the issue then do let us know the exact version of Oracle that you are backing up.
Also just to inform you that RMAN is from Oracle and not provided by Symantec.

Thanks,
-Sush...
