Backup Scenario

I've spent about 30min searching and reading through threads but am still not sure on this so I appologise in advance for repeat posting.

I spent close to 45min on the phone with Pre-sales and did not get a clear answer so hopefully someone here can help.

We are going to install BE on a dedicated server. The data to be backed up is on a remote, 2 node MS cluster (active/active). (just to be clear, BE is not installed on the cluster nodes, it's on a seperate server)

Q1. Can data be backed up through the Cluster Virtual IP so that if a cluster failover occurs backup continues or does the backup have to route directly through the node and backup stops if there is a failover.

Q2. We will be installing AOFO on the nodes. Do we need 2 licenses (one for each node) or will one license for both nodes work?

Thank you

I backup local drives on the servers and the clustered drives on the virtual server. This way if the failover occurs, your virtual server will continue being backed up as well as the local drives on the servers that host the cluster.
Regarding the license, I believe there is a separate agent for the clustered environment. You might want to look into that.
Let me know if this helps.

Thank you. That's exactly what I wanted to hear.
