Hi,

I am using Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 for windows servers to backup my servers VHD's. Now my backup is failed, I find the following message in the log file.
“Backup canceled by user recovery”

Backup Exec Alert: Job Cancellation
(Server: "FOCALBACKUP2") (Job: "MasterTTHS") The job was canceled by user Recovery.

For more information, click the following link:
http://eventlookup.veritas.com/eventlookup/EventLookup.jhtml

Event ID: 34114
Task Category none
Level: Errors

Why my backup is failed, what are the causes to fail the backups?

And one more thing, in initial days the backups was running 1200 MB/min to 1700MB/min but after few days the backup speed will be slow down (200 MB/min)

When I restart the Backup Exec services before start backup, the backup is running very fast and after few minutes it will become slow and one more thing I observed, when I defragmentation the disks, It is running very fast after few days, it will become slow.

Why it is behaving like this, Please post me the solutions for this issue.

Thanks in advance

Regards,
Babu Kumbhala

Hello,

User recovery is part of the application. This user is related to the local communications with the Job Engine service.  If Communication is lost between beserver and bengine for longer then 15 minutes (by default) user recovery cancels the jobs.

We need to check the Alerts at the time of job failure. Go to Alerts Tab and check if any atert is been displayed.

this KB will be helpful as well:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/285165

Could you please paste the error message in the job logs as well?

Try this...

Increase the number of hours for the backup job to complete before it is automatically canceled. To do this, enter an appropriate value in the field "Cancel backup job if not completed within" under Tools | Options | Priority and Availability or Backup Job Properties | Source | Priority and Availability.

Disable the Option "Enable automatic cancellation for selection list" in Backup Exec under Tools | Options | Priority and Availability or Backup Job Properties | Source | Priority and Availability.

Uncheck the GRT option in the job if you are backing up exchange on Hyper-V machine...
